The Arts Portal Summer Institute (TAPSI)
Studio Art – TAPSI campers will imagine, research and produce various forms of tangible art through paint, clay, textiles, found objects, sculpting, mosaic and nature.
Video Production – TAPSI campers will learn how to prepare, shoot, and edit video. They will also learn about camera operation, lighting, sound and editing techniques.
Music for the Stage – TAPSI campers will learn singing techniques, music terminology, and stage performance skills while preparing a musical selection for live presentation.
Dance, Improv and Choreography – TAPSI campers will learn the fundamentals and core choreography for specific forms of dance such as African dance, modern dance and hip hop.
Creative Writing – TAPSI campers will be challenged to use both their imagination and real-life experience to express themselves through poetry, short story, script and song writing.
Theater – TAPSI campers will explore theater and acting fundamentals as well as the creative and technical process through involvement in our TAPSI end of summer show.
Fencing – The Arts Portal Summer Institute will partner with the Fencing Academy of Philadelphia North, to offer an exciting and exclusive opportunity to learn the basics of Fencing.
Puppetry – The Arts Portal Summer Institute will partner with Monkey Boys Entertainment to learn about live puppetry and performance!
Field Trips – TAPSI campers will experience cultural enrichment as well as good old-fashioned summer fun like swimming, organized sports and an outing to Six Flags during our weekly Friday field trip escapes!
